MediaTek Unveils Dimensity 7400 and 7400X Chipsets: Powering the Next Wave of 5G Smartphones

Taipei, Taiwan – MediaTek, a global leader in semiconductor innovation, has officially announced its latest mobile platforms: the Dimensity 7400 and Dimensity 7400X. Designed to deliver flagship-tier performance for mid-range and premium smartphones, these chipsets aim to redefine user experiences in gaming, photography, and connectivity.

Built on an advanced 4nm process, both chipsets feature an octa-core CPU configuration with Arm’s Cortex-A78 and Cortex-A55 cores. The Dimensity 7400X, however, edges ahead with higher clock speeds—up to 2.8GHz—catering to power users who demand seamless multitasking and console-level gaming. MediaTek’s HyperEngine 5.0 further optimizes gaming performance, enabling smoother frame rates and reduced latency for competitive play.

5G connectivity remains a cornerstone, with integrated modems supporting sub-6GHz networks and dual 5G SIM capabilities. The company also emphasized AI enhancements, including upgraded APUs (AI Processing Units) for real-time image processing, night-mode video capture, and advanced computational photography.

For display enthusiasts, the Dimensity 7400 series integrates MiraVision 890, which supports up to 144Hz refresh rates and HDR10+ for vibrant, fluid visuals. MediaTek’s partnership with global OEMs like Xiaomi, Realme, and Vivo hints at a wave of upcoming devices leveraging these chipsets.

Strategic Positioning in a Competitive Market
The Dimensity 7400 series arrives as MediaTek strengthens its foothold against rivals like Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and Samsung’s Exynos 1380. By balancing cost-efficiency with premium features, the company aims to empower device makers targeting price-sensitive markets without compromising on performance.

“The Dimensity 7400 series exemplifies our commitment to democratizing cutting-edge technology,” said Joe Chen, MediaTek’s General Manager of Wireless Communications. “Whether it’s gaming, streaming, or AI-driven tasks, these chipsets are engineered to exceed expectations.”

Availability and Expectations
Smartphones powered by the Dimensity 7400 and 7400X are expected to hit shelves by late 2024, with mass production slated for Q3. Industry analysts predict the chipsets could dominate the 300500 smartphone segment, offering consumers flagship-like experiences at accessible price points.

As 5G adoption surges globally, MediaTek’s latest launch underscores its ambition to lead the next era of mobile innovation—one where performance and affordability coexist.
